How can I get gigs for my metal band?

Posted on January 26th, 2012 by admin

We’ve gotten a few gigs before, but mostly parties and things with people we know who gave us a chance to play. We played a battle of the bands once and won second. I really want to find some real gigs, but I don’t know a lot of small venues that are open to thrash metal, and any venues of any size that I find, I don’t know how to go about getting the gig. We’re in the Downingtown/West Chester area (outside Philadelphia) if you know any venues that would be interested.

Talk to some similar bands in the area, try starting with secret shows at small, private "venues" (usually rigged-up garages are the ones I’ve played at)

Eventually, if you’re good enough, you’re likely to end up playing with a more popular band (thus gaining you notoriety) or for people there to recruit for larger shows.

Guitar Amp question, for Band practice and Gigs?

Posted on January 12th, 2012 by admin

I currently have a 15 watt guitar amp, its not enough for band practice.

Would a 75 watt 1×12 be plenty of power for practice and small gigs?

My bass player uses a 50 watt 1×12 and we have a 60 watt 2×10 PA (For vocals only) and a fairly loud drummer.

If you go tube then 30 watts would do it. If you buy solid state you probably will need 75 watts.

How many gigs of music can my 11 inch macbook air hold ?

Posted on January 8th, 2012 by admin

i have around 30 gigs of music. my got a macbook air for christmas and i’m afraid it won’t be able to hold my music once i try to transfer it.

Hi ian
30 gigs is next to nothing with a mac book i have one also it has over 150 gigs of free space.
if you are that worried an external drive might be the answer or a flash drive some of these now are up to 32 gigs so you could carry your music around in a pendrive. .
the hard drive is upgrade able to 1000 gigs.

Can I use BEHRINGER B215D x 2 PA for my band gigs?

Posted on December 23rd, 2011 by admin

We play Jazz (Bass, keyboard and vocal) we want to play at small pubs, cafe and small hall for party etc. I’ve been looking for some PA. some brand are really expensive!! last week I found this Behringer PA (that we can afford), when I googled I couldn’t find any clue whether this PA is suitable for a band performance like us. someone, please help us!!! thanks

Yes. They are 550 watts each if I read correctly. I have Yamaha MS400 speakers that are very clear and clean and big enough, so 550 is even more, as long as they are 550 each.
You might want a subwoofer for larger gigs too, or for the hall.

What is a good free website to show my band for paying gigs.?

Posted on December 11th, 2011 by admin

I have a band and would like to make a website for my band for free.does anyone know where i can find one?

i would start a youtube account so people would also capture some visual aspects of your performances which would make them want to check you guys out.
my friends’ bands use PureVolume, although i’m not sure if it’s free to put up songs. everything else like band sign up is, however.
you might also wanna try myspace, even if it is a little outdated.
you never know what could happen.

How much is 2 gigs of data really for phone usage?

Posted on December 1st, 2011 by admin

I was looking into phone services for when my contract ends, but 2 gigs seems like so little. But maybe its not.

To use up all 2 gigs of data in a month, what would you have to do? How many apps to download, does havent facebook connected all the time kill that usage, all that, because I dont know and really I just use wifi for now.

Someone clear this up for me?

Every carrier has a data calculator on its website. Go find one and play with it.

How to get invited to perform gigs on The Sims 3 Late Night?

Posted on November 24th, 2011 by admin

When I first got late night October 2010, I created a band but never got gigs.

Then i thought they fixed this bug a while ago but I played yesterday and created a band and still no gigs.

What do I have to do?

steps 1-8

1. Have 4 sims have a level 5 in each drums, guitar, bass, and piano. (i now it works with 2 you can try.)
2. Have them become best friends and have their celebrity points get up to 3 stars.
3. Have someone ask the other 3 to join his/her band.
4. Register them as self employed
5. keep practicing.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
6. ONLY ONE SIM will get a cell call for the gig not all 4! when your phone rings answer it and it will say something about your band name.
7. Read carefully about what the opportunity.
8. lets say the gig is from 5pm – 9pm, the person that got the gig, when he/she can go to place of the gig complete the gig, go there and the whole band will go there.
Hope this helped got it from another person :P

How can my band find some gigs?

Posted on November 21st, 2011 by admin

We’re teenagers in the San Francisco / San Jose (California) Area if that helps.

Any tips for finding gigs?

My boyfriend has his own band, so in the past 4 years, I’ve learned from his experiences.

Contact any of your local venues. Ask if they have an local shows or battle of the bands that you can participate in. They likely will.

Befriend other bands – many of them have experience and can probably give a helping hand in terms of landing gigs. Plus, if you support them and come out to their shows, then they’ll come to your gigs and support you! :)

If you guys are still in school, you can try arranging some type of talent show in your school and have your band play. You can even print of fliers and whatnot to have people come and support you. The more people who know about you, the more likely it is that someone will reach out to you and offer you a gig of some sort.

But in general, branch out and connect with as many people as you can. Good luck!

Try micro jobs sites. You can have people pay through the site and it advertises you to many people with their wallets ready. Most micro jobs sites only allow the exchange of small amounts of money but Micro Jobs Online lets you pass over up to $500 per job.
