Will adding ram to my laptop make a difference?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I have a Gateway laptop with
2.0Ghz AMD 64-Bit CPU
14.1" UltraBright Widescreen LCD
1GB RAM
80GB HD
XP Media,

The max I can have per the user guide is 2 gigs. Will I see any performance by going from 1 to 2 gigs? The computer is not slow now btw. I have heard XP likes 1 gig or so. Thanks.

Memory wise it would probably be a good idea to upgrade to at least 512Mb if you were planning to use the machine for other purposes at the same time. Use for High Definition TV increases the requirements further.
1G should be sufficient.

Has anyone received their Download Festival 2009 ticket yet?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I ordered my ticket about 2 months ago from ticketmaster. It is now less than two weeks until the festival, and I have yet to receive mine or my friend’s tickets. Is this normal for Download festival, and does anyone else have theirs yet? I have only ordered from ticketmaster once before, and my gig ticket was with me within a week or two.

I have`nt received mine either. Have used ticketmaster before, Mettalica in March and ticket came about 2 weeks before gig. I suggest if you have`nt got it or a slip from the delivering courier by Thursday night (4th June ) start contacting Ticketmaster directly. Please put a post on here or reply when you get your tickets. Cheers.

Why does this happen at shows/gigs/concerts? Please help.?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

Okay, soo. When I go to shows/gigs/concerts, i have a group of friends i go with. we range from 14-19 or so, give or take a few years above. anyway, a lot of my friends are friendly with the bands. I am too, but i guess not as much. I’m younger than them, and I’d really hate for it to be about this but also a lot prettier than basically all of them, they’ve said that. so why do i not get as much attention as some of them? i’m just as chill, funny, ect. please helpp.
suzylee: yeahh, i know. the ones in particular are biggish and i’m slim and i guess we’re around the same in the area you’re talking about, idk.

Sometimes it just comes down to a simple question of breast size.

Which music software should I use to mix a recorded live gig?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I recently played a charity gig which someone recorder on a mobile phone. The quality was surprisingly good so I would like to see if I can get a reasonable CD together for a few of the people that attended. I’d like to reduce some of the background noise and play about with the instrument levels. Doesn’t have to be particularly professional, just want to tart it up a bit! Any suggestions?

You can check out trakaxPC, which we’ve just recently released – it’s completely free (no trial/catches etc.)
http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/

It’s simple drag and drop technology, so perfect for beginners to experiment and have fun creating music, video and photo slideshow mixes without a steep learning curve. However, there are advanced features such as beat-matching etc., so you can find a level to suit your capabilities. You can cut samples, remix tracks, change tempos, create slideshows, create & edit videos, record in directly from your mic etc. Check out the site for a full range of reviews.

We also provide libraries of royalty-free loops & beats that will help you in creating new and unique tracks – they’re really cheap, so worth checking out:

Good Luck with the music, video and photo slideshow mixing!

What are the most important features of a musician’s web site?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

What are the most important features of a musician’s web site? Do you mainly check a site for a tour/gig schedule? How about downloads? Pictures? At bare minimum, what do you want to see when you visit a musicians web site?

I want to see their touring schedule, some pics from their gigs (if not videos), some of their music to download or at least listen to. I like to see things that they are interested in and what the do in their non-musician life.

I had almost 10 gigs of music (2,500) songs on a portable hard drive and I lost it all. How can I get it back?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I wanted to make a clone of my laptop’s hard drive on my portable Maxtor OneTouch Mini III 100 gig hard drive so I used this program called CloneDisk to do it. I already had 10 gigs of music on the portable hd but I didn’t think my songs would deleted if I did the cloning, but unfortunately they were. Is there a way I can do some kind of unformat or restore on the portable HD to get it back to how it was before I did all that? Thanks

lost forever fella

How can 65 gigs be taken up on my brand new computer?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I just got a new gateway laptop, with about 320 gigs of hard drive space. I got Spore, Itunes, and that’s about it. I have far less then I have on my 10 year old desktop, and it only is using about 17 gigs of space. And I got this computer less then a week ago. I looked at programs, and my hard drive, and can’t find anything that would take up so much space. What could possibly take it up?

That question is too open.

Too much to say,

What an easy way to do is, go to C:\Program Files rightclick and see how much it’s taking up. Go into the folder and look at all the programs listed.

Hope this helps you a bit
