GIVE ME THE FEAR Release date: 26th September 2005 Label: Escapi AND MAJOR UK TOUR “Their blaze of liphook riffs, brazen dual guitar soloing and killer harmonies- is like a guilty pleasure, without the guilt. Irony-free stadium-rock heroes in waiting.” KERRANG! “More hooks than a Norwegian whaling fleet.” DAZED & CONFUSED “NME cant think of much that beats the thrills contained within this slice of grizzled barbarian beef rock. Its all duelling guitar solos & rabble-rousing majestically moronic yob rock choruses.” NME “In the outlying tents all broke loose. Tokyo Dragons blasted out a marvellously unreconstructed ‘70′ sound, recalling days when metal was fun and angst free, like over amplified pop.” DAILY TELEGRAPH Prime movers Tokyo Dragons step up to release their thunderous debut – Give Me The Fear’, the album finally seeing light of day on 26th September, released through the band’s new label, Escapi, purveyors of such fine fare as Dictators and The Hellacopters. The Dragons have not been lying low in the months since their Island divorce, opting instead to have a blast on a month long tour with friends Do Me Bad Things during April & May, and going down a storm at Download Festival and Kill All Hippies in June. The band tore apart the Tapestry Goes West Festival (July 29th) revisiting the headline spot there (”Tokyo Dragons are definitely ugly, but in the best possible way: their denim-clad, splayed-leg Thin Lizzy thing is the perfect Friday night soundtrack” NME), and played the legendary Bulldog Bash (12th August) alongside Winnebago Deal & The Datsuns. They also played a killer set at the “Rockin the castle ” in Scarborough alongside Hanoi Rocks and the Wildhearts and they have just completed a virtual sell out three week tour of the uk , followed by an action packed visit to New York . December saw their first proper tour of Europe supporting the mighty Nashville , having great shows in France , Germany , Switzeland and Italy . More touring took the boys in to the new year including two special charity gigs supporting Brit rock legends The Almighty . With another superb tour with Nashville and a kick European and UK tour with Canada’s finest Danko Jones already under their belts for the year its all systems go go go !!!!! for The Tokyo Dragons . 30/03/06 “Frontman Steve Lomax and co are on fire at the moment, playing old school heavy rock with as much blood and thunder as anyone . They’ve got the honest to goodness authenticity of Thin Lizzy mixed with The Datsun’s bluster and brevity. All from a British band that everyone should be supporting .” KERRANG
Here is a short MTV “Week In Rock” segment that is from July 1994. It reports how Courtney Love’s band, Hole, will play the Reading Festival August 26th which is the band’s first show since the suicide of her husband, Kurt Cobain, and the accidental heroin overdose of Hole’s bassist, Kristen Pfaff. At the time of taping, Hole was holding auditions for a replacement for Pfaff.
